is time that Perugino started to give greater breadth to his compositions, setting them in vast open spaces (\i Lament over the Dead Christ\i0 , 1494-95, Florence, Pitti; frescoed \i Crucifixion\i0 in Santa Maria Maddalena dei Pazzi in Florence, 1495).
It was during these years that Raphael was his pupil, an experience that had a decisive influence on the young painter from Urbino.
